WHY WALK?
Walking for a cause can be both delightful and invigorating when it's done with a group of highly spirited people . It is really exciting and the end result often brings forth an overwhelming sense of fulfillment. We started the Gem Project Walks on October 29, 2008. Our first walk was to bring awareness of breast cancer. Despite the inclement weather, we had a great turn out. It united the student body of The New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University (Newark Campus). Its purpose was to make the youth more aware that it can happen to them, while stressing the importance of early detection.
