Through the help of United Way Greater Newark, The Gem Project went through the instructors’ training to become certified to deliver Youth Mental Health First Aid, a certification that is good for 3 years.
In 2024, The Gem Project will be seeking funding or in partnership with organizations and companies to provide training to individuals at no cost.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is ideal for adults who work with or come in contact with youth: educators, after-school programs, counselors, etc. The Gem Project will deliver 12 in-person, virtual, or hybrid sessions in 2024.
At the top of the year, The Gem Project will be at FOCUS Hispanic Center for Community Development, Inc., training 15 of their after-school staff across from three of their schools.
