ABOUT AWARD: On the forefront of social change, The Gem Project awards candidates who are passionate about public service, social justice and equity. Preference is given to those who have plans to continue service beyond graduation working in (but not limited) to fields like social work, public service, education, youth development, and criminal justice.

Our Mission: To improve high school to college student engagement and graduation rates, through youth organizing and the initiation of service-learning initiatives, which take on social justice approach.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a current high school junior, senior, college student or recent graduate. Recent graduate is defined as graduated within 1 year of college.  Applicants must reside within the United States of America. While it is not required that you’re a current fellow, one out of 3 award recipients will be chosen from the most recent fellowship cohort, as of year 2021.
